Welcome to the 12 Days of Money! I know we can all use some extra money during the holiday season, so I hope you will join me for 12 Days of FUN & EASY ways to add more bookings, upgrades, gift certificate sales, and money this December. 

 I love running challenges like this because they help you step out of your comfort zone, try simple, easy tweaks to your client conversations and marketing, and get a feel for things you might seamlessly integrate into your weekly routine. The goal is to increase your income and make more money consistently in your massage business.

Here’s how this challenge works: Over the next 12 days, including today, I’ll give you simple, easy money-making tasks to try out. These tasks are designed to take just a few minutes a day. The longest one will take about 30 minutes, but most are quicker or can be incorporated into what you’re already doing throughout your day. They’re easy to integrate into your routine.

I encourage you to approach this challenge with a playful and experimental mindset. It is an opportunity to learn rather than fixating on specific results. This approach will make the challenge more enjoyable. There’s no way to fail unless you don’t do the activities. You may not see immediate results because some actions take time to yield outcomes but stick with them. Most of you will see quick wins and more results in the coming weeks.

I also want to acknowledge that everyone’s business model is different. Whether you’re just starting out or already have a solid client base, you might need to customize these tasks to fit your offerings. For example, if you do house calls, the tasks might look different than working in an office or a group practice. When you encounter a task, consider its purpose and how to adapt it to suit your business. I’ll provide some alternative options to help you along the way.

At the end of these 12 days, reflect on which activities you enjoyed and found effective. Consider making those a permanent part of your routine as a business owner. For the ones you didn’t care for, you can let them go. This is about learning what you like, discovering what works, and realizing that making more money might be much easier than you’ve been imagining.

Let’s dive into Day 1: Ask for More.

Look at your schedule for this activity for the next three to three days. Ideally, identify 10 to 12 clients to experiment with. For each client, think about what you could ask them to do, buy, or upgrade. Here are some ideas:

1. Upgrades: Look at your upcoming clients and consider who might benefit from an upgrade, whether it’s more time or an enhancement service you offer, such as aromatherapy or cupping. Make a note and suggest the upgrade during your confirmation call or when they arrive. For example, you might say, “I was thinking about your neck issue, and I think cupping could help. Would you like to add that on?”

2. Time Extensions: If you have a gap after a client’s session, consider asking if they’d like to extend their time. You could combine this with a service upgrade.

3. Gift Certificates: Depending on the time of year, ask clients if they’d like to purchase gift certificates. For instance, you might say, “Are you looking for gifts for anyone on your list? A massage gift certificate could be perfect.”

4. Referrals: Ask your clients to refer friends or family. For example, you might say, “I’m still building my business, and if you know anyone who could benefit from a massage, I’d love for you to send them my way.”

Here’s the thing: We often assume our clients know everything we offer and that we’d appreciate referrals. They often don’t, and it’s up to us to communicate these things. Do it with a casual, friendly energy, like asking someone if they’d like a cup of tea. You’re simply making the offer; whether they say yes or no is not a big deal.

Sometimes, our thoughts can spiral, and we overthink what a client might think or assume. Let’s not go down that path. Instead, focus on doing this experiment with 10 to 12 clients, keeping the energy light and relaxed. You’re just testing to see what happens. Maybe no one will take you up on it, but I doubt it. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Over time, these conversations will become second nature, just part of the flow of your sessions. You won’t even have to think about it anymore. Give it a try, and let me know how it goes.
