The Goal Getter Blog Series - 2025
This series is about stepping into being the person who goes for their goals, working daily or almost daily toward the desired outcomes!
Part One: Becoming a Goal-Getter
I saw a statistic recently that said, "92% of people talk about their goals. But only 8% of people do something about them".
By identifying as a goal-getter and taking action on your goals, you are in the top 8% of people!
A goal-getter is someone who is:
They do this despite obstacles, distractions, failure, and opposition. With the full knowledge that we can go after things and fail, we still keep going after things. The truth is you'll have some wins and some failures - and your wins will outweigh your failures in the long run. And the things you learn from your failures will only help you succeed in the future!
The difference between a dream, a goal, and a to-do:
A dream is something you wish for, something you want, and something you desire.
It becomes a goal, merely an energy shift when you decide to take action to realize that dream, figure out some action steps, and start working on them.
A straightforward example is if you dreamed of winning the lottery, you would set a goal to buy five lottery tickets a week and follow through on that.
Another example is a dream to write a book. You may think about it for weeks, months, or years, but it becomes a goal when you put something down on paper and set some deadlines for yourself. You'll have an outline done in the next month, and then you'll start writing regularly. It has become an actual goal.
A to-do is a small chunk or step towards achieving your goal. A to-do may be researching how to write a great chapter title. To-dos are also simple tasks we need to do throughout our lives. They aren't goals; they are to-dos! But they can be small steps toward your goals.
I want you to lock in your identity as a goal-getter today.
One way to do this is through I AM statements.
I AM statements are powerful statements. They are proclamations and affirmations. An I AM statement is a statement of creation. Writing these and saying them aloud are great ways to practice your I AM statements.
Here are some examples for you to try out:
I am a goal-getter.
I am someone who works daily to realize her dreams.
I am creating my reality.
I am inspired.
I am someone who goes after her goals despite obstacles.
I am enthusiastic.
I am an action-taker.
I am determined and inspired.
Write a full page of your "I AM statement" and read it daily for 30 days. This is a positive affirmation exercise while also stepping energetically into being a goal-getter.
In this series, we will discuss different ways to set goals, different types of goals, how to create action steps toward those goals, reverse engineering a goal, creating accountability in your life, and tracking—like using a habit tracker or journaling. We will also discuss failure and moving forward, staying motivated, and a few more things!
I hope you are excited about working on your goals for the next 30 days to develop the habit of working on your goals and making your dreams come true!
Part Two Know What Your Goals Are
I am very excited to be here, sharing with you some of my goals and how I set them each year. My goals vary slightly each year, but since 2013, I have made a list of 100 things to do.
I was reviewing my 2014 list, and it'samazing to see what I have accomplished!
I have published over 15 ebooks, created over 50 online courses, and done many things I couldn't have even considered putting on my list in 2014. Doing this process and hitting goals just leads to more and more levels of expansion!
I want to share my list and some things I'm doing with my planning this year.
I have made a list of 100 things to do for nine years. My levels of checking in with my list and consistently reviewing my goals have varied yearly.
Making a list and setting 100 goals or intentions for the year, whether you go back and look at it again or not, does set that intention, which energetically creates shifts. If you don't revisit your list, it is still valuable and works, BUT if you revisit it regularly, you will take more action and find you have completed more of your 100 things to do.
They don't all have to be big goals by any means. They don't all have to have multiple steps. Some of them can be like going to the zoo. Or go out to lunch once a month with my friends, things like that. So it's a mix of your bigger goals and fun things to do - your bucket list for the year. That way, you can cross some off and get some easy and fun wins every week.
I've done a brain dump in the past, which is one way to do it. This year, I decided to get a little planner, list 10 categories, and have 10 things in each category. Anyone who has followed me for over a minute knows I'm into idea-generating. Most days of the week, I come up with ten ideas for anything. It could be something I'm currently working on or just a fun list of 10 ideas.
I’ll share my categories for the year and others for you to consider. Of course, you can come up with your own categories too! My first category is health, second money (business money and home finances), career, house/general environment, family, homeschooling my son, fun, personal development (one of my favorite categories!), and relationships I want to nurture.
You could certainly do a category for your kids, marriage, extended family, friends, church, education and learning, hobbies, volunteer work - whatever categories are essential to you. So, the first thing to do is develop your list of 10 categories.
I will share a few highlights for each category and explain my plan for accountability. I'll also tell you how to get a free planner.
If you've started your list, you may want to transfer it into this process if it resonates with you.
My health goals are:
You can see how reviewing this at the beginning of each week would help you to plan each week!
Money goals: I have several:
Career Goals
House and home goals - some small goals and some larger goals.
Family goals
Here is my fun list:
My personal development goals:
Relationships Goals:
And that's my list! To stay accountable for this list, I plan to set aside a weekly time to review my planner and choose action steps.
I'm spending the next 10 days to 2 weeks, or more, organizing my year. I plan to pick 10 goals that I consider my top 10 goals and write them daily for 30 days. I love knowing the why behind things - and how to create new habits. Once something is a habit, you can do it without all the thinking - it's just something you do automatically and consistently that helps you to change your life!
This is just one example of a way to set your goals, and it can be done any time of year!
Wishing you so much happiness and success for whatever you are calling in!
Part Three - More Ways to Set Goals
Let’s talk about other ways to set goals!
Visualizing and thinking forward into the future: where do you want to be in 5 or 10 years? If you could have absolutely anything your heart desires, this is the way to tap into our real dreams. Then, we can set goals based on what we want and not what we think we want or deserve.
Tap into that - from an energy of “Hey, this is a fun exercise!” And write down all of the big dreams you can think of! It may be being a best-selling author, having your own TV show, owning your own business with multiple locations, starting a charity or a foundation, or buying a house on the beach.
Sometimes, I will water down my dreams to what I think is ok to ask for and then lose my motivation because it's not what I want. It's important to get clear on what you want; even if some of the things seem impossible, we can still work toward them and the qualities that they represent for us.
When we do that, we shift the energy, and we can also always call in some of the qualities of that goal or that dream.
Whenever I rent a vacation house on the beach, I experience a little window into what it will be like to have my own home there. And sometimes, it will raise my awareness that I don't need to own a home on the beach. I can immediately rent one and have the full beach life experience I desire right now!
What I want you to do today is think about your big dreams - think about 3 years from now, 5 years from now, 10 years. Make a comprehensive list of everything you want to be, everything you want to do, and everything you want to have. It's okay to be indulgent and selfish with your dreams - they are your dreams, and you don't need to share them with anyone.
And then I want you to pick your top 5 - if you could only choose 5 of these things, what would you pick? Then, take those five and set a goal that has to do with the bigger dream.
Let's give a few examples, Starting with the beach house. I want to own a house on the beach, it will have at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms, it will have a garage to store all of our surf boards and toys in. Next, I would LOVE to have over $5,000 recurring monthly income from more passive income streams or investments. Finally, I would love to have my house paid off, my current home in the mountains - and I want to have $50,000 in savings.
So those are some good big-picture ones, and now we can set actual goals to our dreams. So, for the beach house, I could set a goal to save $25 a week with the intention to increase that later. So then I shift my energy from being a person who dreams of having a beach house to someone who is actively saving to have a beach house. Can you feel that energy shift?
If I want income from more passive sources, I’ll need to research and pick a few to try out. Maybe low content planners on Amazon or a YouTube channel that plays nature sounds.
If I want to pay off my house, instead of just thinking, “Boy, I wish I could pay off my house,” I can figure out what it would take and start moving in that direction. Even if I can't make the whole amount of the payment to reach my goal, I can do partial with the intention to increase it, and I can set other goals, like actively looking for ways to increase my income.
Same thing with saving $50,000 - I might only be able to save $100 a week right now, which is around $5,000 a year, but even at that rate, I would eventually reach my goal of having $50,000 in savings in the bank!
Many of us feel like our dreams are so big that anything we do will just be a drop in the bucket, and we will never get there. But the truth is the people who get there are the people who stay determined, enthusiastic and action taking.
In my experience, the Universe meets you halfway when you do these processes and shift the energy!
The little things are the big things!
