It's Day Three of the 12 Days of Money Challenge.
See? I told you this would be easy.
Today’s moneymaking task is very simple: promote yourself in a local Facebook group.
Here’s what you’ll do: Create a promotional post and grab an image. The image can be one from your phone, a picture of you giving a massage, a headshot, a photo of your massage table, or even a stock photo. Then, craft a post that lets people know who you help, how you help them, and how they can learn more about your services.
You won’t say, “I’m a massage therapist, and I do this and that.” Instead, you want to say, “If you have [specific problem], I can help! As a massage therapist, I specialize in [specific areas]. Here’s where you can learn more.”
The key is to catch the attention of potential clients by addressing their problems instead of just talking about yourself. It’s a small adjustment, but it can make all the difference in whether someone notices your post.
Local Facebook groups are an underutilized marketing tool for massage therapists. I think we sometimes worry that posting might come across as spammy. But it’s not spammy if you’re intentional and respectful. If you’re in the group promoting yourself every day, that might be spammy. However, posting once a month or so, being part of your local community, and sharing how you help people? That’s not spammy at all.
To make this even easier, I’ve provided some scripts and examples you can use for your post today. If you don’t have a photo to use, I recommend checking out free royalty-free stock photo sites like Pixabay.com or Pexels.com. Search for terms like “massage,” “relaxation,” or “spa” to find a suitable image.
Here are some sample massage advertising scripts for Facebook Groups:
Text: "Do you wake up with nagging neck or shoulder pain that just won’t go away? I can help! As a massage therapist, I specialize in relieving chronic pain and tension so you can feel your best every day. Whether it’s from long hours at a desk, stress, or old injuries, I’ll work with you to find the relief you need. Let’s get you back to feeling great! You can learn more and book an appointment here: [Insert link]."
Image Idea: A calming photo of a massage therapist working on a client’s shoulders or a relaxing spa scene.
Text: "Feeling stressed or burned out? You deserve some time to relax and recharge. I specialize in stress relief and relaxation massages designed to help you unwind, improve sleep, and feel like yourself again. Imagine walking out feeling lighter, calmer, and ready to take on the week. Sound good? Learn more or schedule your session here: [Insert link]."
Image: A cozy photo of a massage table with soft lighting and soothing decor or a peaceful image of aromatherapy oils and towels.
Set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes for the whole process. It’s easy to fall into the trap of spending 30 minutes or more looking for the “perfect” photo only to run out of time to make the post. Avoid that by giving yourself a time limit and just getting it done.
I love using local Facebook groups for marketing. You can reach a lot of people in your area, including your ideal clients. Best of all, it’s free! And I love free advertising and marketing activities.
If you want to dive deeper into this strategy, I have some additional resources for you in the Massage and Spa Success Club. These include:
- Promoting Your Business in Local Facebook Groups: A full deep dive workshop where I go into more detail about what to post, how to find groups, and how to create a strategy.
- Hands-On Local: A program about getting involved in your local community to give back while also promoting yourself as a massage therapist. You can do both simultaneously—it doesn’t have to be an either/or situation.
- New Client Attraction Bootcamp: One of my top sellers! This evergreen program is a 30-day or six-week marketing boot camp that covers all the basics.
All of these resources are included in the club, so check it out!
Once you’ve made your Facebook post, keep an eye on it. See if you get any comments or if people reach out to you. If they do, make sure to respond promptly. Over time, as you try different types of marketing activities, you’ll start to see what works best for you and your local market. Then, you can do more of what works and less of what doesn’t.
Give this a try, and I’ll see you tomorrow. 🤗
